Men’s Jewelry: A Buyer’s Guide to Buying Gold Chains

From historic times, men have been wearing gold chains. Men’s gold chain is a piece of men’s jewelry which is a classic and will never go out of fashion. From ancient roman emperors to the rich and wealthy today, gold neckpieces and gold chains are the essentials of men’s jewelry. When buying men’s gold chains, you must pay attention to three things; Purity of the gold, style of the gold chain and the width and length of the chain.
Purity of the gold: while buying gold chains for men or any other piece of gold jewelry, you should first find out about the purity of gold. Gold in its natural state is quite malleable and can be easily dented with a bite. For creating jewelry such as gold chains, it is mixed with other metals to create alloys. These alloys are made in different ratios. While buying men’s gold chains, look for the toughest alloy.
The purity of gold is measured in carats. The standard carats are 24k, 22k, 18k, 14k and 10k. 14k is the standard for men’s gold chain and you will find several pieces of gold jewelry being sold at 14k purity. 14k gold chains contain 58% gold and 42% other metals. Higher the carat value, richer will be the yellow color of the gold chain.

Style of the Men’s Gold Chain: Men’s gold chains are available in different styles these days. The simple oval links are out of fashion. Men’s gold chains now come in varying link styles. The most popular being Curb gold chain, Figaro gold chain, Rolo gold chain and Box gold chain. The links of a curb gold chain are twisted, interlocked and flat. Figaro gold chains are adopted from Italy. In this every third or fourth link is longer than the rest. These are thicker than curb gold chains. When the link are perfect circles, interlocked together, the result is a Rolo gold chain. They are most commonly used with pendants. Box gold chains have, square shaped, box-like links. Box chains are sturdy, can hold heavy pendants and also cost more than the other gold chains.
Length and Width of Men’s Gold Chains: There are various standard sizes for men’s gold chains but one must always go for what suits them. It is best to opt for a size that is proportional to one’s own size. For a tall, bulky man, a thin 16 inches gold chain would look disproportionate. Men with short, broad necks should not wear gold chains that are short.  A longer gold chain will give the impression of a long and lean neck. These things should be kept in mind while buying gold chains for men.
If you are on the lookout for men’s gold jewelry, be it men’s gold chains, diamond earrings or rings.
